Welcome to The Swim School!  We wish you a very happy and exciting experience with us and we look forward to being a part of your or your child’s development! SA Child

Hi all,

With regard to the Covid-19 Virus, we have consulted with the many stakeholders that are relevant to our Industry..

Afternoon & Saturday Classes

The Swim School will be open as usual (see the calendar) for swimming lessons.

Please note that we will be closed on Sat 21 March for the Public Holiday and from Monday 23rd March to Monday 30th March 2020 for School Holidays).

Please also be aware that we will be monitoring the situation and will inform you should anything change.

  • Chlorine is a sanitizer and it is the main ingredient in our chemical application for the pool water.
  • We have started using an additional sanitizer for the water (as an additional precaution, although we have been told that this is not necessary, we would rather be safe)
  • We have installed electronic “gadgets” or testing devices in the pools to read our chemical levels every 30 minutes, so it has taken the “human guess work” out of the chemical applications, and chemicals are always in balance.
  • We have installed Hand Sanitisers in and around The Swim School to remind our Members to keep their hands clean.

Please note that this virus does not like warm temperatures, and the pool area is warm (always summertime there)

As a precaution, if your child is showing signs of the ‘flu, please do not send them to swimming.  We will make sure that your child does not miss out on lesson time.

Please note that Term 2 is 11 weeks long.  So there are 3 additional weeks in the term as we only charge you for 8 classes/weeks.  If we are forced to close for a period of time, we will then readjust our calendar so that everyone gets the attention that they deserve.  We will cross that bridge if it comes to that.

Our Teachers have also committed to curbing their exposure by not going out to public places after hours.

Should you wish to keep your child away during the imposed school holidays, kindly let us know so that we can use that time to catch up classes for other students.

Thanking you all for your kind co-operation and support, and wishing you all good health and peace and serenity during these turbulent times.

Please note that Prize Giving is on my radar – and we will only confirm this date once all the sanctions have been lifted.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR SWIMMERS

PLEASE NOTE WE ARE OPEN FOR PRIVATE/INDIVIDUAL SWIMMERS AS PER OUR USUAL CALENDAR AND CLOSED FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS AND NURSERY SCHOOLS

The Community Development Program for Nursery Schools & Schools

With regard to the Covid-19 Virus, we have consulted with the many stakeholders that are relevant to our Industry both Locally and Internationally.  The Swim School will at all times remain compliant of any rules and regulations that are put in place in order to protect our Communities from the Corona Virus.

The Swim School decision was to remain operational, however this is not possible as all the Schools and Nursery Schools have been forced to close.

Our Community Development Program with Schools and Nursery Schools will therefore be closed from Wednesday 18 March 2020 to Monday 13 April 2020.

We will re-open on 14th April 2020 unless we have another directive from the Authorities.

The way forward will be that we will reduce the length of the winter break, in order to catch up some of the missed classes.  We will also extend the length of the weekly lessons.

On this program, we charged you for 24 classes/weeks in the year but we were scheduled to teach for 35 weeks in the year.  The reason I do this is due to the fact that our Nursery School children and their families still like to take their vacations during school term time, and often take a couple of days off during the year to spend with extended families.

We are so committed to this Program for the safety and well being of our children, that we will ensure that all the students cover the scheduled program which is set each year.

Although The Swim School will remain open as per our annual calendar unless circumstances change, we cannot accommodate the students who are enrolled on the Community Development Program in the afternoons or Saturday mornings.  Should you wish to change your child over to the Private Program, kindly call the office for the procedures.

In the unlikely event that we are unable to complete our Program, we will adjust the accounts in the final term of the year (October/November).  In the meantime we would like to thank you all for your support during this tumultuous time.

We will be posting a “home-work” program on our website for the start of the new term (by

31 March 2020) and we encourage you to work through these activities with your children to keep them moving forward during this break. www.theswimschool.co.za.

There is no evidence that Covid-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools or hot tubs as long as proper maintenance is adhered to.

Midmar 2020

Midmar 2020 was a resounding success, despite the rain, our swimmers did exceptionally well.

We had swimmers completing all 8 miles, and the others completing a range from 2 miles to 7 miles!

The swimmers collectively brought back 168 medals – one for each mile completed.

Our Special Needs swimmers were amazing, and were able to finish before the lightning struck!

Special thanks to our dedicated staff, teachers and admin, who worked so hard before, during and after Midmar 2020 to make Midmar  “The Swim School way”  an  event to remember.

Thank you to our Parents and families for their support and commitment which enabled all our Swimmers to achieve their personal goals!

If you are interested in doing the assessment, please let us have your children/s name/s and date/s of birth, as well as your contact details.

There is no charge for the assessment.
